Advertising: traditional vs. digital media

Posted by – July 8, 2008

From TV Decoder: A study to be released on Wednesday finds that advertisements appearing in traditional media like television are still “much more likely” to have made a positive impression with consumers than ads running in digital media.

Now, compare that to last month’s Venture Beat article that says consumers continue to abandon traditional media for digital media.

OK, I get it — traditional media advertisements are more effective, but nobody’s viewing them.  Great!

Mission statement vs. vision statement

Posted by – June 14, 2008

Some conversations this week led me to re-read some articles I had bookmarked regarding vision statements. As I read this article, I noticed the following in one of the user comments:

A mission statement needs to answer–Why are we here? (what’s our business all about) What value do we create? (what’s the solution we provide to the world) And to whom? (who is our best customer) A vision statement needs to answer–Where are we going? What should we expect when we get there? When will we get there?

I like that.
